OX was founded in 2000 by Andrew Strong, a University of Newcastle graduate in Design and Creative Arts who crossed into professional web development at a time when the two disciplines were rarely held by the same person. That dual background - understanding both the visual language of design and the technical rigour of engineering - has shaped the practice ever since.
Most web development practices come from one direction or the other. Developers who learned to code first often produce technically sound but visually flat work. Designers who moved into development often produce beautiful work that underperforms technically. OX operates from both sides simultaneously - which is why the platforms delivered here look considered and perform properly.
Over 25 years the practice has worked across healthcare, resources, education, finance, government and not-for-profit sectors - delivering platforms for organisations including the University of Sydney, UNSW, Greater Bank, NCIG, One Rail Australia and HVCCC. The common thread across all of them is an expectation of quality that generic agencies and builder-based approaches simply cannot meet.
OX is based in Newcastle with clients across Sydney and throughout Australia. All development is done locally - no offshoring, no junior handoffs, no account managers in the middle. Every client has direct access to the engineer responsible for their platform.
